The main reason to rescue a dog is to to save it's life. Every day more and more dogs are surrendered to shelters and rescues. They are over flowing with many dogs and cats being euthanized. When you rescue a dog or cat, you are actually saving two, the pet you bring home and the dog or cat that was lucky enough to take the it makes room for more animals to be saved.

Beware: There are unscrupulous people, scammers if you will, who will take your money and in the end you are left with nothing. While WMDF has researched each of the rescue organizations, it does not represent an endorsement. You should always do your own investigation into each rescue you plan to deal with.

It is critical that pet owners be familiar with potential veterinary issues associate with their pets and be able to recognize symptoms quickly. While information obtained online should never replace the advice or care from a veterinarian, it can be a first step at understanding your pet's well being.

Routine veterinary visits help your pet live a long, healthy, and happy life. Annual or biannual exams nip emerging health problems in the bud and are key to extending your pet's time by your side.

Regular visits to a veterinarian can help to prevent health problems before they start. Regular check-ups and vaccinations can help to keep your pet healthy and avoid diseases that could be expensive to treat. Early detection is key when it comes to treating health problems in pets.
